had an idea while i was in the shower —i need to make an au. Where mind is just pre-I Disagree Poppy. Like, Poppy.computer, Am I A Girl?, maybe not Bubblebath EP because poppy and That poppy are separate to me.

maybe it happens after the shot? She starts off cold and calculating, just as she does in every world, but the bullet hits her somewhere vital and she factory resets to this bubbly, ominously optimistic and smiley android. The type to stand over you as you sleep and watch you but smile politely and wave the moment the lights are on, yk?

heart and soul are probably CREEPED the fuck out by it. I think that’d be fun.

this also plays into my whole Sunshine Character Mind headcanon? Slightly? I meant that in a different way but it can work here.

YEAHHH FOR REAL.........i've definitely noticed the parallels too!! i hadnt even thought about the "faceless observer" stuff, thats really cool....both of them having huge impacts on history but not being remembered by it...SO much too think about !!!

especially since i have this not-super-concrete just-for-fun pet theory that Luxord is the Player (Ludor, a potential name, is latin for "I play"; hes the only good candidate if the games need to have a character turn to the camera and say "I'm the Player" or something to that effect; he uses time magic, so does Xehanort, maybe he rubbed off on him when he raised him; some other little details)

and like...im not much for shipping most of the time, but xiglux with player!Luxord goes SO hard. and without the shipping context it's still a really compelling set of parallels to me. space/time, for starters. the possibilities of one person being reincarnated over and over and encountering the other's different possessed vessels over the ages. and it adds another layer to the "black goat/white goat" thing.

see, the term "scapegoat" comes from a ritual described in the Bible in Leviticus 16, where two goats are chosen—one (the "scapegoat") has all of the sins and impurities of the community laid on it and is cast out into the wilderness, and the other, free of sin, is sacrificed. and like....Luxu is sent into the wilderness bearing a part of Darkness, and the Player is sacrificed during the events of KHUX...

...but also the games have kinda tried to avoid giving the Player a canon gender/appearance, and having a specific character with a canon gender and appearance be the Player goes against that. i kinda doubt we'll get another appearance of the Player in a mainline game. and if we do, it might not even be Luxord! and i'd be totally fine with that LOL. this is just a for fun theory.

in any case, itd be interesting to see those parallels played with in some way in canon—but one of the best things about KH to me is how much is left as a sandbox for folks to think about and discuss outside the context of the games. not every single parallel and detail needs to have an in-canon acknowledgement!

Firstly if you know any streamers from the smp (check out the Balloonsmp neocities page) I'd recommend going with somebody from the team they are on

If not, I personally only watch like 1 perspective for now, but I hear good things about others

Team F is a slapstick comedy, their luck is abysmal and the situations that arise from that are cartoony to absurdity, they don't get involved in the main plot as much as others, but have a lot of things going on internally ( I recommend robbydude since they have basically all days and are central to everything at team F, but im also partial to Charllahan's pov since i like his rp plot and vibe)

If you want more smp plot Sophiebaybey from team E is involved in many major events and is very rp involved, keeping a full on diary she updates daily

Team A is also involved in the plot and also has some really fun interpersonal stuff (SocksBX or skullvolver or woops for plot, buggleboos for the sillyyyyy)

These are the streamers i watch mostly so I can't say anything about others, I'm sure they are swag awesome too

I wouldnt want Xig to be some sort of actually "redeemed" or "actually a big sadboy" character, but also by now he *does* comes off as just being a guy who's been around so long/done or seen enough terrible things that he's basically rotted from the inside-out. Comparing Original Luxu and him now it's fairly evident that that's the case. I'd like to see more expansion on him by way of "yeah this guy got put through the human soul millstone and is naught but a fine powdery residue now" pathos tbh

oh he is absolutely rotted from the inside out, shell of a shell of a man. it's been interesting seeing each stage of his downward character arc as he's been processed into finer and finer silt. i imagine he'll show up in missing-link. wonder what fucked up thing is gonna happen to him then! (and damn even if he isn't there. looks at the events of khux. looks at the events of dark road. boy i sure hope this new mobile game doesnt feature horrific death!)

also, anon, i'll be so real with you that i drafted an entire post about Luxu Redemption Arc, what i mean when i talk/joke about it, why i think it's not so far fetched, before i realized that i didn't know whether you meant "I wouldn't want Xig to have a redemption arc" or "I wouldn't want Xig to have been secretly good/already redeemed the whole time". oopsy daisy!

the second i agree with—to me, xigbar is sympathetic and nuanced, but he can be either of those things without being Secretly Good The Whole Time and without being a woobie sadboy who did nothing wrong. (and for the record he can also be those things without a "redemption arc" and still end the story ultimately villainous and incapable of growing as a person, and have that be satisfying and compelling and good!)

in terms of Xig having a redemption arc...my thoughts on that are more complex. watch this spot i guess! and until then, i hope you trust that, whatever it is that makes me believe that he could have one, it's not just wishful thinking, and is based in actual analysis of the games. like, i wouldn't blame anybody for being skeptical of character analysis done by someone who has drawn that character lounging in a state of undress with a riding crop in his mouth. but i'm the kind of person who wants to love a character as they are, not as i wish they were.

(and to be clear, i dont read this ask as attacking me or my opinions or xigbar in any case—your tone here seems very conversational and chill! and i certainly have no interest in Proving you Wrong or Winning Points. literary criticism is fun and toys and playing and sharing and learning. we are passing a ball back and forth to each other and contributing to a conversation. smiles)
